Cartlidge & Browne Chardonnay 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

French in style with an elegant minerality and complexity combined with the slightest caramel and brown sugar notes. Aromas of a green apples medley and more floral honeysuckle lead to a palate that is both silky and alive. Welcome flavors of honey and baked bread from sur lees aging while maintaining a delicious fruit profile and Meyer lemon cake. Very versatile. This wine is so well balanced with excellent acidity that it will perfectly pair with a number of foods. Try with a range of seafood dishes, grilled chicken, pork or veal.

Cartlidge & Browne Winery:
"Despite the enormous influence of California's wineries, too few specialize in premium wines at value prices. One that does is Cartlidge and Browne. Avoiding extra oak and other types of manipulation used by some vintners, Cartlidge & Browne produces fruity, pure, and vibrant wines that reflect varietals' personalities.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Ripe, lush aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, pear, and orange peel are enhanced by clean oak spice and the creaminess of malo-lactic fermentation. The palate is especially full and smooth in texture, with loads of ripe citrus, juicy pear and tangerine fruit.

Flavors of creamy vanilla pudding, buttered toast and pineapple jam mark this slightly sweet Chardonnay. A crisp streak of acidity provides much needed balance to the richness.

My first choice for a value Chardonnay, the Cartlidge & Browne is soft and creamy without being overly toasty or flat. It has intense tropical fruit notes softened by a buttery smoothness. Perfect for grilled chicken, pasta or aperitifs. Food pairing: pasta, poultry Flavor type: traditional Body type: light-medium Finish: rich
