Food Pairings for Cartlidge & Browne Cabernet Sauvignon California
Delicious! Smooth with rich flavor.
A poor choice for budget cabs. Sulphur overtones, harsh all around.
A correct wine with good flavor but a somewhat angular structure, soft tannins suggest this wine could age some still. A good value at the price level indicated.
External Reviews for Cartlidge & Browne Cabernet Sauvignon California
A deep garnet in color, the Cartlidge and Browne Cabernet gives an immediate impression of ripeness and density with its rich aromas of cassis, plum, fig, and black cherry, buttressed by inviting notes of cocoa, cedar, vanilla oak spice and sweet tobacco. Its expansive mouth feel and generous texture highlight dramatic flavors of roasted black fruits, espresso, anise, and toffee.
The juicy, deep ruby-tinged 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals classic aromas of black fruits intermixed with hints of underbrush and herb. Fine ripeness, low acidity, and medium body suggest it should be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, medium-bodied offering revealing notes of tobacco, herbs, and black currants. Its soft tannin, low acidity, and excellent ripeness suggest it will drink well for 3-4 years.
The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a darker color in addition to more structure and herb characteristics. This up-front, pleasant, fruit-driven effort should drink well for 3-4 years.
A well-made wine at a reasonable price, with typical flavors and aromas wrapped in a smooth and gracious package that provides great enjoyment.
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot, this wine offers generous aromas and rich flavors of blackcurrant, plum and mocha with overtones of toasty oak and allspice. Delicious.
Another soft fruit bomb is the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon. With copious quantities of black currant fruit, low acidity, and a lovely texture, and no wood in evidence, this tasty, ripe, cassis-filled effort can be enjoyed over the 3-4 years.
