Carrick Pinot Noir 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

A complex brooding nose showing layers of black cherry, chocolate and cinnamon. The palate is texturally driven with a richness and density of flavour showing sweet succulent fruit, exotic spice and an aromatic dried herb aspect making for a layered, complex wine. The power and weight are held in check by the fine silky tannins which provide a solid backbone. This wine is mouth-filling, complete, and harmonious with a long, complex finish.

Nestled at the southern end of one of the broad glacial river valleys surrounded by the Cairnmuir and Carrick mountain ranges, Bannockburn enjoys a continental climate with low rainfall and high sunshine hours. The long cool autumns with their warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for the production of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Other grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris also thrive in Central Otago's microclimate. Read less

Matured for 11 months in French oak, 20% new, the 2009 Pinot Noir provides a medium ruby-purple color and intense aromas of black cherry and black raspberry with some floral/wilted roses and lavender nuances plus whiffs of forest floor and black truf...
