Carpineto Vigneto St. Ercolano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

In late September, the grapes were carefully selected by hand. Fermentation and maceration took place over 15 days in small cement vats at 25-30°C using indigenous yeasts. Aerations, pump-overs, and punch-downs were conducted frequently during this time. Malolactic fermentation occurred. Racked into new French and American oak barrels, the wine aged for 12 months. It was then transferred into stainless steel tanks to further refine for 1 month before being bottled unfiltered to preserve the integrity of the wine. The bottles were stored in the temperature-controlled cellar for an additional 5 years before being released.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, this wine expresses aromas of black currants and licorice with black pepper and vanilla nuances. A full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish.
