Deep, vivid, ruby to purple color, a fragrant bouquet of cherries and herbs accented by hints of vanilla and coffee. The taste is complex, ample yet round on the palate with a soft tannic finish that lingers.
A bright and bubbly red, with simple dried cherry aromas and flavors, light body and a fresh finish.
Here's a tasty, compact Sangiovese-Cabernet blend from the excellent 2001 vintage that gives pure fruit and varietal character. It's chewy and textured, definitely more so than your average Chianti, and there's some meaty rusticity and light oak to punch things up a notch. Good with grilled meats and vegetables, or with pizza. Pronounced dogo-yolo.
Where Vino Nobile grapes that don't make the cut for the Riserva go, as the estate doesn't produce a regular Vino Nobile, just a riserva. This perennial Best Buy combines crunchy, fresh cherry fruit with hints of caramel, coffee and chocolate. It's a cheerful wine that should win Tuscany plenty of fans, at a great price.
Well-integrated notes of almond and spice round off a healthy offering of berries and fresh fruit. This is a compact and simple wine with a vibrant ruby color and clean berry flavors.
This is a very innovative product, a young "Super-Tuscan", whose characteristics are never found together in the same wine. Dogajolo combines the power and deep colors of a young wine, the elegance and balance given by wood aging, as well as a fruity and fragrant bouquet. Grapes: Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinification Technique: the two grape varieties are vinified separately, since they ripen at different times. Toward the end of fermentation they are blended and placed in small wooden casks where they slowly complete alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Finishing: Dogajolo is bottled between the last week of March and the first week of April of the year after harvest. It is excellent when young, but as with any red wine of good mettle, it ages well.
Looking for an easygoing wine that has some structure? Dogajolo is predominately Sangiovese with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon to add a little more depth to the wine. It has a gorgeous color resembling that of violets. The nose carries beautiful spice, vanilla and cherries. The flavors are soft on the palate of coffee, cherries and distinct spice. It is a medium-bodied wine with a super finish that likes to hang around! Pair with roasted peppers stuffed with provolone, lamb chops alla pizzaiola or any hearty dish you choose!
Winemaker's Notes:
“Dogajolo” is the creation of Dr. Giovanni Carlo Sacchet, the first and only Italian enologist to have won the Robert Mondavi Trophy as the world’s outstanding winemaker. A very innovative product, Dogajolo is a young Super-Tuscan made from Sangiovese grapes with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon. The name Dogajolo comes from “doga”, meaning wood stave, since the wine finishes its fermentation process in new wood barrels where it is aged for a total of 6 months.
Tasting Notes:
Dogajolo has a deep, vivid, ruby to purple color and a fragrant bouquet of cherries and herbs, accented by hints of vanilla and coffee. The taste is ample yet soft on the palate, complex and well developed.
