In 1868, Antonio Carpenè, founder of Italy’s first oenology school, began producing Prosecco using the Charmat method of fermentation in large vats instead of the bottle, which became the standard practice for quality Prosecco. The grapes are sourced from the steep hillsides of Conegliano, where Prosecco is given the prestigious DOCG designation. In addition to its range of fine Proseccos, Carpenè Malvolti also produces the “L’arte Spumantistica” range of sparkling wines from other grapes in a range of styles from dry to sweet whites and rosé. Everything a Prosecco should be. Mostly dry, great persistent perlage. Mellow citrus flavors. Perfect party wine, everybody likes it. I rate it a five, because in its category, it's the best out there. Truly delightful.

This is a decent Prosecco with fine, continuous effervescence and a light (almost imperceptible) nose. Excepting the "Brut" nomenclature for the moment, the taste experience is minimalist with a touch of fresh bread and vanilla. Still, on the Plaza of St. Mark in Venice, this would be a winner - if not entirely in the the off-dry tradition. At the price I purchased this wine, a bargain indeed (we'll keep that a secret).

This prosecco was dry and bubbly. The color was almost clear. It was one of the favorites of the evening.
