Carol Shelton Wines Zinfandel Mendocino County Wild Thing Old Vine 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Intensely jammy, black razzpberry fruit, vibrant and alive in both nose and mouth, nice hit of black pepper. Smoothly textured in mouth, creamy vanilla oak, and the finish is long and lushly jammy fruit - dangerously good! Certified CCOF Organically Grown

Dark purple color but a clear wine and a bit lighter than I anticipated. Really strong and very nice fruit aroma, but I couldn't really pinpoint the aroma. Some sort of berry or currant it seemed. Well balanced - the fruit was strong but not overpowering. Medium finish. I don't recall having too many wines that use the natural yeast from grapes the way Carol Shelton does. I thought it was an interesting idea.
