Carol Shelton Wines Zinfandel Mendocino County Wild Thing Cox Vineyard 2003

Member Review by drdebs:

Scrumptious. Bright true garnet in color. Aromas that leap out at you of blackberry, blueberry, sassafras, black tea and spicebox. Flavors follow, developing chocolate and pepper notes on the finish. 15% alc/vol but nicely balanced. Drink at the right temperature or its raspy.

Carol Shelton, known for her memorable Zinfandels, named this one "Monga" after its humongous flavors in the mouth. This is a Zinfandel with intensity. Blackberries, licorice, and spice interact on the palate. This is old-vine Zin at its best.
