Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

I like my palate, or as my fave Gary V would say Pal! I trust my pal, and for some reason, it takes a rare find Pinot for my Pal to be so excited. I think this might be one of those! This Pinot runs away with me taking me on a magic carpet ride over the skittles rainbow. . . and back. In all seriousness this Pinot smells a bit like Skittles candy at first, but mellows on the sweetness and adds a hint of spicy nutmeg. On my palate it is really juicy (nicely acidic - which means it will pair well with food) and has a slightly earthy mid-palate. Very well balanced it finishes with a hint of sun dried tomatoes and roasted red peppers. Seek this out!

This wine is less Pinot-ish than I would have expected. Just by look alone, it's quite saturated in color. It's not as furity asI like in a pinot and a distinct old-world character. I

While the label says Pinot Noir, there are a lot of Cab Sauv characterisitcs to this wine. There's a nice helping of plum aroma and the taste is very juicy and peppery. Certainly a surprise for a Pinot Noir, but a pleasant one.

This wine was rated number 1 by women at the 2006 Pinot Shootout - and there is a good reason! This is an extremely drinkable Pinot Noir now, and should do well to age as well. The nose is nutmeg, spice and cinnamon sprinkled on cherries, and there are nice bright cherry flavors that drift into a sort of rye bread component on the mid-palette. Juicy, not jammy, with balanced alcohol and tannins. The finish reminds me of baked bread with cranberries and I have to say, the glow in the dark label is a clever and cute touch - as Carneros della Notte does their harvest at night! A great value at a discounted price on our site!
