My favorite every day wine at the moment. Tastes better than many higher priced wines. Will add a case to my cellar.

The company was founded in 1998 after Aldo Olivier Gramola realised the potential for producing superb wines in this seem-arid valley. Aldo settled with his family in the Elqui Valley in 1951 and has been producing grapes and wine there since 1975. The Falernia project was born after he met Giorgio Flessati, an enologist working in the Trentino region of northern Italy. This is an innovative venture given that Viña Falernia is Chile’s most northerly wine estate, a considerable distance from the country’s main wine-growing areas. The driving force has been a passion for the wine and the challenge of transforming a tract of desert into a green vineyard with enormous potential for producing premium wines, availing ourselves of the latest technology, the support of agronomist from Chile universities and of world renowned enologists. Great price-value carmenere. Expresses all the main characteristics of the grape. Aromatic, complex but not presumptuous, Nice well balanced acidity, black fruits, the exact dryness. a yummy wine...

Rich fruit concentration, black pepper, red fruit, dark chocolate, great body with soft tannins. At a time when Elqui was better known for distilling Pisco and for growing other fruit, Falernia was a true pioneer, led by cousins Aldo Olivier Gramola (who also makes Pisco) and Trentino winemaker Giorgio Flessati. This Italian-inspired revolution has seen the planting of a 320-hectare estate on four sites along the valley, from the sometimes fog-shrouded, low-altitude area near the Pacific right up to more than 2,000 metres above sea level - some of the highest altitude vineyards on earth. Grapes: 60% Carmenere and 40% SyrahRegion: Chile / Elqui Valley / Pedregal VineyardMaker: Giorgio FlessatiNotes: Bright and deep in colour. This wine shows rich fruit concentration; on the nose black pepper, red fruit, dark chocolate. Great body with soft tannins on the palate.Serve: At 16-18c with grilled or roaste red meats such as lamb.ABV: 14.5%
