Since in Barbaresco the vine was not the Mistress of the hills, Donato Giacosa, the father of Carlo, the owner of the firm, decided to link his life to her and to his soil. Donato knew the art of grafting inside out and so his work, applied also to the vineyard of other owners, has been very important in the spreading of vine cultivation and is still evident today. In the 60’s, with the cooperation of his son Carlo, Donato Giacosa carried out the wine production and selling on their own, as well as the vine cultivation. Today this work continues, with the collaboration of Carla, the wife of Carlo, and Maria Grazia, one of their daughters. The vine cultivation follows traditional methods, and is enhanced with passion since in the late spring, when the selection and the thinning out of the grapes begin, and go on in summer and until the harvest. Every year the grapes produced in their own vineyards become red wines, all of guaranteed geographical origin (DOC). The high quality of their wines has been recognized and appreciated from some specialized wine publications as well Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Gambero Rosso, Veronelli, Papillon, Selez. Merum, etc. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
