Carignan Vin de Pays du Mont Baudille Domaine Familongue 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Old-vine Carignan is quite a popular term these days, its implication beingthat because the vines have been there a long time, that they has acquired amysterious veneer of quality that is sometimes lacking in this, the putativework-horse variety of the region. Caveat emptor! Some old vine Carignan isbetter than others, and this is one of the best. Familongue have a knack ofmaking wines that are rich, full bodied and yet replete with local colour andpersonality. Marinated dark fruits, souisbois and a hint of licorice areevidenced here, the palate is full but rounded, the finish clean andsatisfying. One for sanglier or boudin noir!(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer)
