Captûre Wines Red Bordeaux Blend Alexander Valley Dark Rose 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

With multi-generational experience from Château Latour, our winemaking team understands the methods behind crafting classic Bordeaux-style Rosé with intense fruit from hillside vineyards harvested at peak ripeness. After meticulous hand-sorting and de-stemming, the skins, the juice and the seeds macerate together for 12-hours to enhance the characters and perfect color of the wine. We then bleed part of the juice for a long fermentation in stainless steel barrels between 55 and 60° F to emphasize the brilliant fruit and maintain optimum acidity. The fully fermented wine is aged sur lie for 10 months, with extensive stirring during the first two months to reinforce its bright fruit expression and improve mouth-feel.

We started Captûre Wines because we were collectively inspired by the vineyard we discovered that rises almost 2,500 feet above the Alexander Valley floor on Pine Mountain, and we shared a vision of crafting a portfolio of world-class, Bordeaux-style wines from our corner of California. The team behind Captûre Wines is united around a deep respect for Tin Cross Vineyards and a commitment to the finest expression of our mountain fruit through time-honored Bordeaux winemaking methods. Captûre Wines represent the marriage of time-honored Bordeaux winemaking with the intense fruit character of our organically farmed mountain estate, Tin Cross Vineyards. Renowned winemaking team May-Britt and Denis Malbec, formerly of Château Latour in Bordeaux, create our wines to bring out the rich personality of our terroir. The resulting wines are elegant expressions of depth, nuance and longevity. We look forward to sharing them with you. Although our winery is not open to the public for tastings, please let us know if you are planning a visit to Healdsburg, as we can occasionally accommodate private tours of our vineyard, nestled among the 240 acres of our Pine Mountain estate.
