Capture Harmonie Bordeaux Blend United States California Sonoma County Alexander Valley 2009
External Reviews for Capture Harmonie Bordeaux Blend United States California Sonoma County Alexander Valley
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (84 percent), this is a denser, more powerful wine than Captanducirc;reandrsquo;s Harmonie (recommended here, among the blends). The fruit tannins combine the new French oak to dry the finish and narrow the range of flavor. Itandrsquo;s a rich wine that needs long aging for those tannins to mellow and allow the fruit to come forward.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation possesses quite a bit of depth as well as energy. Blackberries, graphite, camphor, leather and licorice are some of the notes that flow from this Cabernet. The mountain tannins are quite present on the finish. The Revelation is attractive but far from compelling. The 2009 is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot plus a dollop of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012andndash;2019.
The winemakers call this their Pauillac-style wine, meaning that its character is marked by Cabernet Sauvignon. Itandrsquo;s a brilliant wine, vastly deep, imposing and elegant, with a potent mountain flavor of black currant. The estate vineyard is very high in the Mayacamas Mountains, and you can sense the small size of the berries in the wines intensity, the sheer concentration, as well as the tannins andmdash; which are hard and tight. Clearly this is a wine that requires time in the cellar. Try in 2018, but it could worth aging well beyond that.
Red-ruby. Currant, graphite, minerals, leather and tobacco leaf on the nuanced nose. Nicely ripe and intense, with a supple texture and a subtle sweetness to the redcurrant, tobacco, espresso and licorice flavors. I like the combination of depth and juiciness here. Finishes with serious ripe tannins and lovely chocolatey persistence. Attractive already owing to its complexity but has the stuffing and balance for a graceful evolution in bottle.
Food Pairings for Capture Harmonie Bordeaux Blend United States California Sonoma County Alexander Valley
Alliance is a Bordeaux Left-Bank style blend, an approachable wine that is ready to drink at release. It offers a nose of lavender and dried flowers, and a palate of chocolate and both red and black fruits, with a round, juicy mid-palate and a lingering finish. The Alliance cuvee is most like a red Pessac-Léognan style of wine, driven by our most aromatic lots of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon as a base for structure and weight.
