Capitain-Gagnerot Chorey-les-Beaune 1993

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £16 from the website www.cellartrade.co.uk. Chorey-les-Beaune is an appellation created in 1970,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for red and white wines from the commune of that name in Burgundy. This is located about three miles north-east of the town of Beaune on the lower slopes of the Cotes de Beaune in the valley of the Saone. There are no premier or grand cru vineyards in the appellation.Capitain-Gagnerot is a small well established family concern. I started my bottle last night with my steak supper. The wine is a pale red colour. There is plenty of a cherry and raspberry style fruit and the tannins are soft. However it is a well structured wine that is also subtle and delicate. In short, this is a lovely bottle that went well with the steak

Capitain-Gagnerot:
The domaine was established in 1802 when Marie Gagnerot married Francois Capitain and it is still run by their descendants. They were one of the first estates to vinify and bottle their own wines rather than sending grapes to the negociant house. They produce a range of red and white Burgundy wines from 16 hectares spread over several Burgundy appellations
