Capiaux Cellars Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Widdoes Vineyard 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): Medium red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Deeper-pitched nose than the Chimera, offering plum, spices, smoke, earth and caramel lifted by rose petal. Richer and lusher in the mouth, with a distinctly more tactile texture but good grip to the red fruit and spice flavors. A captivating floral quality leavens the impression of ripeness. Finishes with sweet tannins and lingering red fruits. (May/Jun 2010)

Another beauty, the 2009 Pinot Noir Widdoes Vineyard includes about 10% stems and was aged in 40% new French oak. It exhibits beautiful sweet strawberry, red and black currant fruit as well as notions of earth, underbrush and subtle oak. Round, gener... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. The most restrained wine of this group is the 2008 Pinot Noir Widdoes Vineyard. Playing it closer to the vest than its 2007 counterpart, the 2008 exhibits abundant wild strawberry and berry fruit intermixed with notions of cola and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied with some tannin as well as a narrowly constructed, reserved personality, it should open with another six months of bottle age, and drink nicely for 4-5 years.
