Food Pairings for Capezzana Ghiaie Della Furba
The Capezzana estate, 24 km north west of Florence, is owned by the Conti Contini Bonacossi family, and all seven children work in the business. The younger generation is now firmly in charge of the estate, with daughter Benedetta Contini Bonacossi as winemaker. The highly talented Stefano Chioccioli, a protégé of the well-known peripatetic winemaker Vittorio Fiore, is the estate’s wine consultant. Grapes for this wine are grown on the alluvial valley of the Furba River. The south/south-west facing vineyards are situated approximately 150 - 200 metres above sea level. This Bordeax style blend is intense ruby in colour with light shades of garnet. The nose is complex, elegant, and intensely spicy, with a ripe cassis character lent to the blend by the predominant Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is firm and full-bodied, with dense, sweet tannins and well-balanced acidity. Tremendous length with an elegant finish.
