Capestrano Montepulciano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2010
Editorial Reviews for Capestrano Montepulciano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
A bit buttery and a bit acetic on the nose with aromas that are slightly earthy and flat. This is simple and fresh in the mouth with a delicate texture that is lean and very pretty. A simple wine that delivers attractive black berry inflected cherry fruit with juicy acids and taut little tannins with a modest finish. This could take a bit of a chill and is very attractive for its simplicity. 85pts
Four and a half glasses
Harsh at first taste and doesn't improve. Some nice fruit but it's masked by the bitterness.
Very forward nose, with attractive aromas of spice, violet, black raspberry, plum and sweet earth seem to jump out of the glass and give you a good preview of what’s going to hit your palate. In the mouth it leaves a jammy semi sweet flavor, that is not as heavy as the dark rich ruby color would indicate. A great value priced wine for about $20 that tastes like a $40-60 bottle. Four and a half glasses
A wonderful ripe cherry/plum nose with some smoke. For a wine at this price point it shows wonderful complexity with similar elements of the nose. It is not as earthy as I like from Montepuciano d'Abruzzo but it really is wonderfully made.
This wine is fron the Abbruzzi region - province of L'Augila - smooth, hearty, plesent with any meat/pasta dinnermenu.

Deep ruby color with some violet reflection. Aromas of strawberry, and ripe fruit. On the palate it is dry, rich with a great body. Excellent structure with a firm finish.
Wine Tasting NotesThe wine shows a deep ruby red color and nuances of ruby red, little transparency. The nose reveals intense, clean and pleasing aromas of black cherry, blueberry, plum, carob and violet followed by pleasing aromas of walnut-husk. In the mouth has good correspondence to the nose, good balance, agreeable tannins, good body and intense flavors. The finish is persistent with flavors of black cherry and plum.
