Cape Mentelle, sister to Cloudy Bay, is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River. Soon after launch, the winery twice won the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia’s most prestigious wine award. Margaret River has limestone soils reminiscent of Bordeaux, and a climate tempered by ocean currents, resulting in expressive and well-structured wines.

An elegant blend from the Margaret River in Western Australia. Dark fruit plays off of winter spice undertones on the nose, leading to a rich and varied palate impression; most salient are chocolate, cassis, and spice box flavors. Well structured, with a lively touch of tannins and an impressive finish.

Dark fruit plays off of winter spice undertones on the nose, leading to a rich and varied palate impression; most salient are chocolate, cassis, and spice box flavors. The result is a balanced and mellow red wine, characterized by fine-grained, ripe fruit tannins. This wine is a bit plumy and chocolaty, but it also has herbal and floral notes to add complexity.

Trademark 04 colour; a powerful, medium to full-bodied wine, with layers of blackcurrant, spice and ripe tannins; good structure and finish. Screwcap. (a 60/40 blend) Ruby-red. Pungent, herb-accented red berries and cherry on the nose, plus complicating anise, cracked pepper and rose notes. Elegant and light in body, with excellent precision and mouthwatering acidity bracing the fresh redcurrant and cherry flavors. Clean and nervy on the finish, which displays impressive sappiness. You could spend twice as much, or more, on a Bordeaux and not get the balance and purity of fruit offered here. A savory style, with strong herbal, peppery notes around a slightly gritty core of chewy blackberry. Best after 2008. 1,700 cases imported. -HS ** Only 18 in Stock **
