Cape Mentelle, sister to Cloudy Bay, is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River. Soon after launch, the winery twice won the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia’s most prestigious wine award. Margaret River has limestone soils reminiscent of Bordeaux, and a climate tempered by ocean currents, resulting in expressive and well-structured wines.

External Reviews for Cape Mentelle Red Bordeaux Blend Margaret River Cabernet Merlot
Wine Enthusiast ReviewA bit plummy and chocolaty, but it also has herbal and floral notes to add complexity. What this wine lacks next to its big brother the Cabernet is weight and density; its a charming, supple wine that closes with crisp acids.
An elegant blend from the Margaret River in Western Australia. Dark fruit plays off of winter spice undertones on the nose, leading to a rich and varied palate impression; most salient are chocolate, cassis, and spice box flavors. Well structured, with a lively touch of tannins and an impressive finish.
