What to Expect

Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshingly crisp white wine that offers citrus and tropical fruit flavors with very aromatic notes of green chilies, grass, herbs, asparagus and gooseberries commonly contributing to the bouquet. Sauvignon Blanc is generally unaoked allowing the fruit to shine and highlighting the delicacy of the grape.

Winemakers Notes

Cape Menetelle takes a minimal approach towards this classic Margaret River blend of suvignon blanc and semillion. The aim is to preserve as much frut intensity and regional character as possible, whilst providing a full flavoured distancitive white wine. The style accentuates the fresh frut characters of both varieties with tjhe added complexity and palete weight offered by small portion of barrel fermentation.

Tasting note: A fifty/fifty blend of the two varieties which is partially barrel-fermented, and is one of the most reliable examples, year-in, year-out. The complex herb and spice fruit of the bouquet is followed by intense and powerful flavours of herb, citrus and gooseberry, the oak subtle throughout. Gold plated. Focused, intense aromas of lantana, passionfruit and lemon rind with just a hint of spicy oak, lead into this lively wine. The palate follows with the same clean and refreshing flavours together with a complex structure of great harmony and symmetry. The finish is defined by persistence and length.
