Cape Mentelle Chardonnay Margaret River 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Chardonnay is what Margaret River agruably does best; this example from CapeMentelle is no exception being finely structured with creamy, luscious yetminerally bright tropical fruit; an anytime wine. (David Berry Green, BBR Buyer)

Cape Mentelle Vineyards:
Cape Mentelle, sister to Cloudy Bay, is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River. Soon after launch, the winery twice won the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia’s most prestigious wine award. Margaret River has limestone soils reminiscent of Bordeaux, and a climate tempered by ocean currents, resulting in expressive and well-structured wines.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Wine Tasting NotesThe dominant core (95%) of this blend comes from the rocky, chalky hillsides of Paso Robles, defining the round, sumptuous, multi-scented richness. A small percentage of Lodi grown Syrah (5%) expands the lush quality of the Cabernet, and adds a black peppery spice that does an amazing job of fusing this wine with spice oriented (especially Asian and fusion) foods.
