Capbern Gasqueton 2009
From the Calon-Ségur stable and very impressive! Blueish purple crimson.
Very juicy and meaty. Lively fruit. Polished. Great vitality. Very much
St-Estèphe on the finish. Minerals. But a quite amazing amount of
sweetness on the front palate. Really wonderful expression of St-Estèphe
2009 - though not of St-Estèphe in most vintages.
(Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com, Apr 2010)
Another relatively inexpensive gem from the '09 vintage... this lesser version of Calon-Segur is really worth seeking out: it is drinking well now - with power - but will settle for the gentle folk in about 3-5 years. Lots of Bordeaux bramble and cedar on the nose with soft tannin on the palate. Why wait? Buy now and drink up - as I suggest elsewhere for this vintage. 90 points.

Purple core with a ruby rim. The aromas are distinct and attractive boasting bits of cedar savory and baking spice perfume latent tobacco ripe blackberry blueberry black cherry and cassis. The palate has firm tannins that blend with the fruit are persistent but not overbearing. It lingers long after its gone and is nothing short of enjoyable. Roland Hankerson.
Looking good! Very St-Esthphe but with the extra fruit of 2009. Lots of both fruit and structure. Smoothness of fruit concentration. Jancis Robinson.
