Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

"A floral and perfumed nose, with raspberries and blackberries. Full-bodied, with racy tannins and a dense yet refined palate. A little tight still. Give it a little more bottle age. Best after 2010...93" WS 04/09

Tenuta Caparzo:
The “Caparzo” name seems to originate from Ca' Pazzo, as seen in several ancient maps. The vineyards, cellars and all wine-making equipment were developed towards the end of the 1960s, with progressive adaptation and constant up-dating of both the land and the cellars. Innovative cultivation systems and, in particular, several clones are still experimented today on the estates - extending over an area of 190

Solid notes of grilled meat over firm black cherry. Brooding and muscular. More lean black cherry on the palate with some smoke and leather. Grippy, fine-grained tannins and a bit disjointed at this stage, but with balanced components. Finishes with nice length and lingering notes of sweet leather and sandalwood.
