Capanna Brunello di Montalcino 2008

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

Capanna’s 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most unevolved 2008s I tasted. Still quite primary, the 2008 is all about fruit at this stage. Today, it is the wine’s textural finesse and silkiness that stand out most. Sweet floral notes add an attractive sense of lift on the finish, but it will be another few years — at least — before the 2008 is ready to show all of its cards. Anticipated maturity: 2015–2028.

There’s a steady, balanced approach to this Brunello that sees seamless integration of red fruit, cassis, leather, cola and dried rosemary aromas. Bright acidity only serves to underline its overall liveliness. Very different from the softer 2007 vintage, this wine will appeal to those who appreciate a more traditional style.
