Cantine Sant'Agata Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato 'Na Vota 2008

Member Review by benjamindehoog:

Very pretty label..I cannot find a vintage. Purchased in early 2013 and tasting 2-5-13. Very light tannin, acid is medium, spice note is most present but also medium. Red ripe fruit like raspberry and cherry. Mild bitterness. No oak apparent. but there is a spicy note (I think from the wine). Light red towards the brick red side of the spectrum. There is a savory note I can't quite place..maybe a bit of black olive or some freshly picked root vegetables with the dirt still on them. Radish, orange flower water, and sweet tart (can't decide what color) Very pleasant wine. Has been open but sealed well for about 2 days. Reminds me of a carmenere from Chile but is lighter and different.

Are bishops today brothers Claudio and Franco, current holders of the company. A product range which includes the main native vines of the area, some very famous and popular as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Grignolino, others more specific and sophisticated as the Ruchè. Wine that is produced only in a very narrow, and today stands as one of the most important wines of Piedmont. Cavallero not always been the brothers have also underestimated the importance and appreciation of the consumer's consent, who have captured over the years, with an ever-increasing quality, offered at very attractive prices.
