Cantine Giacomo Ascheri Langhe Arneis DOC 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

Made from the Arneis grape, which means 'little rascal' in Italian dialect and from the Langhe region which is in North West Italy, South of Turin. The wines of Cantine Giacomo Ascheri are consistently excellent, and it is worth noting his Barbera Vigna Fontanelle, Dolcetto d’Alba Vigna Nirane and the Arneis (similar to Pinot Blanc) from the Roero hills are all drinking superbly, and provide a good introduction to his style. Pale straw in colour with a fresh bouquet offering fruity, slightly spicy notes. Delicate and dry, with great freshness and remarkable balance and finesse. Excellent as an aperitif but also very good with hors d’oeuvres or fish.

In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, our aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, of the grapes it was made of, and above all of our own ideas. In order to achieve this, we have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. We have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. Read less
