We ordered this on a whim at a restaurant in Sausalito. Apparently, we chose wisely. The owner of the restaurant came out and poured for us, telling us that his father would drink a bottle everyday, a tradition he said he tried to keep, and that if we didn't like it, he'd take it home. It went well with each of our meals, ranging from seafood to pheasant ravioli, and we've been looking for a local carrier ever since.
Ok, full disclosure: I've only had the 2004 of this wine. But it was phenomenal! Very much like lambrusco, but somehow richer, left a bit of something on the back of the tongue (tannin is too strong of a word). Full of fruit, dry but not overtly so. Tiny, tiny bubbles that make the overall effect sharper rather than burpy, like champagne. So so good!! If you like lambrusco, please give this a try!
