"The 2007 Nero dAvola is made from the propertys best fruit and is aged exclusively in stainless steel, which is somewhat of a departure from the norm. No matter, the approach clearly works. This is a gorgeous, full-bodied Nero dAvola bursting with sweet dark cherries, menthol, sage and flowers. It offers notable clarity and elegance, something I cant say too often about the wines of Sicily. Simply put, this is an incredible value. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011. Really nice balance of dark fruit and a splash of Earth. Great bit of structure here that took it beyond a mindless pizza wine.

CHERRY!!! to the face! Did I mention CHERRY!?!! Also CHERRY! This was the featured wine for Frankie's Garlic Festival, and it goes really, really well with spicy, garlicky food. It's reminiscent of a Sangiovese, but it's got an overwhelming flavor of CHERRY!!!!. Not bad, though I probably wouldn't get it again.

A good Sicilian wine. Sweet cherry flavor that is well balanced with plum and medium to high tannins. Drank with a spicy pasta dish. Held up to the flavor and the peppery taste of the arugula used in the dish. A very good food wine. - JG

when drank by itself, the big splash of cherry sweetness that it opens with was a bit overwhelming and borderline unpleasant. once we put it up against the garlicky tomato sauce we'd made, though, it was really nice; structure came out and it got its balance. just the same, now i've got a half bottle of wine i don't want to drink on its own and i don't really feel like making tomato sauce again tonight.... so, i'd recommend it, but only if you're cooking for more than two.
