Robert Parker 94 Points Alto Adige is the northern part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy that borders the Austrian Tyrol. It was ceded to Italy only after the First World War. This region owes its Italian name of “Alto-Adige” to the river Adige that flows through on its way to the Adriatic. The sleepy village of Termeno/Tramin is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2004 Will Stűrz, the winemaker at Tramin, was nominated “Italian winemaker of the Year” by the prestigious Gambero Rosso and makes some of the best white wines in Italy. Gewurztraminer Nussbaumer once again gained the coverted “3 Bicchieri” award in the 2009 edition of the Gambero Rosso and Cantina Tramin proudly hold the “Stella”, the star awarded to a winery for achieving the prestigious “3 Bicchieri” 10 times! Grapes : 100% Gewurztraminer Region : Italy / Alto Adige DOC Maker : Willi Sturz Notes : Full, almost off-dry with dense and exotic fruit flavours, balanced and elegant with a lingering finish. Quite delicious! Serve : With Asian food, pate de fois gras and mature cheese. ABV : 15%
