Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Made from the autochthonous varietal, Lagrein is impenetrably dense garnet with scents of brambly ripe blackberry and spice, balanced with warm oak accents. It is silky textured and layered with rivers of lush chocolate and wild berries supported in a framework of mineral and spice. In Terlano, the wine-making tradition dates back more than 2000 years. Mild microclimatic conditions give the wines certain unique characteristics, thus adding a special flavor to them. Terlano’s unique position at the foot of Mount Tschöggel is a key to the development of the vineyards. The southfacing slopes are ideal for grape growing. The porphyry rocks accumulate warmth and the porous soil allows the water to drain, keeping the soil dry around the roots of the wines. The Cooperative of Terlano was founded in 1893. Today it has over 100 associates trained and specialized in natural viticulture. Together they keep the rich tradition with important innovative elements alive. The fruits of this accurated process are aged in modern cellars under strictly controlled conditions. Read less

Deep black fruits with bold flavors of plums and blackberries on the attack. The mid-palate shows the mellow character that barrel aging has imparted to the wine, giving it well-integrated notes of vanilla and espresso cream. While it is already drinking quite well, this benchmark Lagrein is sure to improve with additional time in the cellar.
