External Reviews for Cantina del Taburno Greco Taburno
Banana, pear and loads of pineapple characterize this fruity Greco that would pair well with most Mediterranean foods. The wine has a light, clean feel and ends with fresh citrus notes. It doesn't have deep dimension, but it is easy-drinking and refreshing.
The 2007 Greco is pure and focused in its white peaches, flowers and minerals. It possesses excellent length and a taut personality, with an inviting note of sweetness that resonates on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009. This cooperative based in Campania is an excellent source for wines that express the qualities of the region's indigenous grapes.
Golden yellow color. A floral quality enlivens the honey, flint and pineapple aromas. Sweet but tangy flavors of melon and apricot are bright and pure; some unabsorbed carbon dioxide contributes to the wine's refreshing quality. Finishes moderately long, with noticeable residual sugar.
Pale gold. Apple, white flowers, flint and smoke on the nose. Dense and smoky, with sweet apple and ginger flavors given a refreshing bitter edge by finishing notes of lime and quinine. This reminded me of a thicker version of albarintilde;o.
Is it because of all those great sheep and goat cheeses that the Italians make such delicious white wines? Or is it the grapes? Or what? Enjoy this wine and ponder the questions.
A cooperative winery located near Benevento to the northeast of Naples and with over 100 acres of vineyards, the Cantina del Taburno also has a line of selections from the best vineyards. The 2002 Greco is a vibrant and refreshing white wine with lemons, minerals, and a touch of honey in its nose and palate. It is meant for immediate drinking.
The incredible richness is almost reminiscent of a late-harvest wine, but with lots of lift and without the residual sweetness. There is terrific depth and concentration to the fruit, with an abundance of dried apricot and juicy peach flavors and an alluring infusion of acacia blossoms. Versatile, exotic, and seriously delicious.
