Cantina del Taburno Falanghina 2013
Editorial Reviews for Cantina del Taburno Falanghina
A bit soapy and salty on the nose, this shows a bit of dried herbal character of green almost kiwi tinged fruit that picks up a dusty peach sweetness and a hint of river stones with air. Medium full in the mouth and very well integrated, theres some bitter melon notes here early on the palate followed by pronounced minerality that lends this a slightly bitter quality lurking under the waxy and melony fruit. A touch of astringency keeps this engaging in the mouth and really calls out for some fat. Prosciutto and melon anyone? There’s really great material here, though this deserves to be served a bit warmer than typically is the case to allow the rich but subtle fruit to show its best. Lovely finish, great texture and depth. 89pts

Delicious and sweet
crisp, slightly fruity, nice pear flavors, perfect for a warm summer day
A little sweet but good flavor.
another excellent falanghina. good with food or by itself. hints of smokey caramel popcorn.
I've come to expect a fruitier experience from falanghina, but this was mostly dry and, for my money, lacked adventure. A smooth drink but nothing to get excited over.
Loved this wine - it was my first falanghina. We were delighted by the slight effervescence, and the bright, clean, fruity taste. We served it very chilled and wished instantly for another bottle. Will buy more.

Falanghina is a variety that has become very popular, especially in the last few years. Most versions can be cloylingly sweet, but not here. Taburno's 2007 Falanghina reveals white peaches, crisp green apples, mint, wild herbs and minerals on a silky-textured frame. This is a reference-point wine for what Falanghina can be at its most elegant and refined. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.
The 2008 Falanghina Taburno shows off layers of tense, mineral laced fruit that seem to never end. This is an especially taut, focused Falanghina built on a core of persistent minerality that avoids the cloying sweetness that is typical of so many other Falanghinas. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Fattoria La Rivolta is an excellent source for delicious, value-priced wine that deliver tons of varietal character.
There's an added layer of yellow fruit on the nose that recalls ripe peach and Golden Delicious apple. This inviting Falanghina is creamy and smooth with persistent sweet peach flavors.
