Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva Negroamaro Malvasia Nera Puglia Salice Salentino 2004
Wine & Spirits Review Rated 92 BEST BUY The aromas of bacon fat and smoke dominate the notes of rose and plum when this is first poured. A blend of negroamaro (85%) and malvasia near (15%), it gains depth with air, melding umami richness with vibrant acidity. Decant a bottle for braised boar. Wine Tasting Notes This wine is full bodied with a deep ruby-red color and a complex bouquet. The flavor of mature fruit is accented by harmonious notes of vanilla from the French and American oak. Perfect for pasta and meat sauce, as well as a goat stew and any red meat dish.

um... amazing and delicious. I had the 2006. It is complex but in a subtle, very drinkable way. I found this wine to be a lot lighter than WS notes. I was so surprised and delighted by this wine- a friend brought it over and I am running out to get it. I have tried a couple other Salice Salentino wines, but this beats them. Especially good with a nutty, hard cheese (ie peccorino). Excellent with dried meats.
just got a bottle, can't wait to try it!
Had this wine for the first last night while at dinner at Maninos. It is now my favorite!
