Deep, rich purple color, a slight musty scent, pleasing to the palate w/black cherry & licorice. A good find at a bargin price

I like dry reds, but not so dry that it sucks the moisture out of my face (hello chianti), and the Cantele Primitivo is just the right balance for my tastebuds! Please, if anyone has a chianti to recommend, I would be willing to give it a go. $8.99 at Trader Joe's!!

A chunky, plummy red from Apulia in Southern Italy. Great for everyday drinking.

Dark red-ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, black raspberry and licorice; faint raisiny note. Dense, sweet and fat, with a dusty texture and just enough acidity to frame the fruit. Not especially complex or delineated but sweet and satisfying. Finishes with tongue-dusting tannins.

Deep inky-ruby. Sweet red cherry, plum jam and herbal aromas on the fresh nose. Ripe black cherry, blackberry jam and tobacco flavors display moderate intensity and length.

Excellent Southern Italian Primitivo. The sweet nose bursts with freshness, plums, berries and dry earth. It's neither heavy nor lean, with ripe plum, watermelon and chocolate flavors. Undoubtedly superb with pasta or pizza.

Are we outside looking in, or inside looking out? the label is as mysterious as its content. DNA testing confirmed that the Primitivo grape in Italy is the same grape as the Zinfandel of California. How? No one knows. This wine is from the Salento peninsula of Apulia (the heel of Italy's boot) and has the same relationship to California's Zinfandel as France's Syrah has to Australia's Shiraz. It has brilliant ruby color, flavors of ;blackberry and cranberry dominated by clove, nutmeg, mace, and black pepper. As you taste the wine, the flavors and aromas dance around the palate and weave in and out of perception. Enjoy the wine, ponder the mystery, salute the differences.

Smoky oak meets juicy cherry in this meaty primitivo. Match the chewy tannins with burgers fresh off the grill.
