What to Expect

Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

Cannonball Cabernet is comprised of 82% Dry Creek Cabernet. Technically could carry a Sonoma appellation. The winery kept the appellation California to maintain a full body, full flavored wine that fits Cannonball. The wine has around 11% Syrah blended in which gives the wine a jumpy mouth feel. It's a huge wine for the price. Master winemaker Dennis Hill has created Cannonball. He is also known for crafting Blackstone and Hayman and Hill wines. This is Dennis coming out party. In the words of the eminent cultural icon Borat, I have to say "wa wa we wa"! Slam dunk for this delicious Cabernet from an up and coming new Cali winery. Lots of soft plummy fruit on the nose, jammy berries and spice on the palate, and a finish that is pure tannin ( a touch heavy on the oak). Clearly still young, the wine's solid structure indicates that it will only develop and improve over the next few years. I didn't even known I could still find good Cabernet Sauvignon from Cali for under $20.

A big , bold, and beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine screams higher price point but delivers quality and value. Rich Jammy black stoned fruit is married with rich complex tannins that do not overwhelm the pallet. It's only going to get softer with age. You are going to hear about this wine for years to come. Buy it by the case.

Excellent for the price, tasted like a $25 bottle of cabernet. Well balanced with smooth finish.

There's enough Syrah in the mix to bring the fruit forward, but not so much that you think it was made by Welch's. Very drinkable now, and at a price point that you don't mind quaffing. Tannins held up nicely to our rare porterhouse, but didn't pair as well with the dark chocolate ganache for dessert. Bought a case to give away a few holiday gifts and everyone says they enjoy it. Hope it doesn't go up in price ($10.99 as of 1/2/08).

Tasted at the 2008 Wine 2.0 event at Crushpad: A solid cabernet. Had some green pepper notes, which may dissipate as the wine ages. Black cherry fruits with a long finish of licorice
