Deep garnet, very narrow watery rim. Meaty Rhônish nose, lots of spicy pepper, leathery plums. Ripe Rhône style with a hint of vanilla on the mid palate. Tannins are dense, ripe and very well managed. Excellent cross between Rhône elegance and New World ripeness (without oversweetness). Redcurrants and fragrance on the long finish. (JH) £5.50

Attractive spice and pepper on the nose. Very like a Crozes-Hermitage with its tarry, medicinal notes on the palate. Lingering finish. Drink up to 2009.
