Canard-Duchene Authentic Brut 2005

External Review:

A pronounced aromatic profile combines toast pain grilli fresh cream yeast mushroom and minerals for a definitive terroir driven style which has become all the more pronounced with bottle age as well as due to a high percentage (48%) of Chardonnay in the final blend. These complex nuances carry over to a medium weight palate where the 40% Pinot Noir and balance of 12% Pinot Meunier combine to add additional notes of baked green apples everything finishing in a buttery flinty note that precisely expresses the outstanding 2004 vintage. 92+ Christopher Massie.

Success came quickly, so they then decided to set up their own Champagne house. They joined their names together, in the true Champagne tradition, and Canard-Duchêne was born. The year was 1868. In 1890, their son, Edmond Canard took over. He was young, bold, loved champagne, and really understood the new world which was coming up. Under his guidance, Canard-Duchêne became international champagne, especially as one of the Champagnes supplied to the court of Tsar Nicholas II. Read less
