Inky extracted color in the glass going to lighter purple on the rim. Notes of woody spice, dark plum, blueberry, and hints of strawberry on the nose. Concentrated ripe cherry and jammy dark fruit hit the palate with silky tannins; medium acid. A complex, but smooth finish. Well done. I really liked this wine. Easy drinking and quite a bargain. Didn't need to be open forever to get the full flavor profile, but a little time helped. Would buy again.

A lot of tannins right off the first taste, very dry with some fruit, a bit of earth and smoke. Would be better with wine and cheese, not a stand a lone wine

Bright ruby. Intense, smoke-accented aromas of cherry-cola, blackberry and licorice, with a peppery overtone. Juicy and broad but precise, with deep dark fruit flavors given spine and lift by tangy acidity. Closes sweet and long, with strong spicy cut and sweetness.

This plush red delivers a mouthful of black cherry and blackberry fruit, with toasted vanilla and light chocolate flavors that impart a fruity sweetness. The texture is gentle, but the flavor bold. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Drink now through 2015.

Smoky and herbal aromas wreathe cherry and light earthy flavors in this restrained red, which has good grip, opening to plum and licorice and on the finish. Drink now through 2012.

Crisp acidity and toasty oak frame bright cherry, cocoa, leaf and mint flavors in this brisk, medium-bodied red. A bit raw, but lively and focused. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Drink now through 2011.

The 2007 Can Blau is purple-colored with a nose of cedar, mineral, baking spices, blueberry, and black cherry. This leads to a full-bodied wine with layers of flavor, enough structure to evolve for 2ndash;3 years, and a pure, fruit-filled finish. It will be at its peak from 2010 to 2018.

Cherry and strawberry flavors are framed by vanilla, toast and spice notes in this surprise, alluring red. Ripe and generous, yet remains lithe and fresh. Drink now through 2014.

This winersquo;s sweet flavors of blueberries and cloves meld into the smoky notes of oak. Itrsquo;s a robust and tannic wine with powerfully concentrated flavors of wild forest fruits. Still young, it needs at least a couple years in the bottle to mellow.

Winemaker's Notes:

"Contrary to its illustrious neighbor Priorat, in Monsant one can work with characteristic varieties each one planted in soils of diffeent composition, i.e., sand and clay for carinena, lime for syrah, and slate for garnacha. This project involves the Gil Vera family, Victor Rodriguez and the technical aspects are headed by winemaker Nuria Sarroca. Cherry with purple reflexes, it exhibits a collection of attributes, aromatics, strength and complexity, that brings an almost panoramic view of the possibilities of the DO Montsant. Fruity and impregnated with the soil's notes, it shows wideness of savoriness in mouth and a fresh and spicy finish." -Winery
