Campo Viejo Tempranillo Blend Rioja Gran Reserva 2005
“We designed the winery ageing room in dark colours with indirect light, prioritising a dark, restful atmosphere. I wanted to imprint this character on Campo Viejo Crianza and elaborate a wine which can be defined in two words: velvety and elegant.” -Elena Adell, Campo Viejo Winemaker Winemaking and Ageing After careful elaboration, the wine remains in oak barrels for 12 months to finish the ageing in the bottle. Tasting: It is an intense ruby red with aromas of black fruit and vanilla. Velvety and elegant. Food and wine matching: Drink it with red or white meat, roasts and cheese. Serving temperature: 17º - 18º
Campo Viejo Crianza 2005 Tempranillo From Rioja, Spain comes this wonderful Crianza ... aged for 12 months in oak casks and another 12 in bottle. Dark ruby in color with warmer colors around the edges and a medium body, this has rich, jammy aromas and sniff, sniff... hmm, there are some horses in the barn... and a hint of minerality. On the palate is a warm strawberry pie (you can almost chew it), super ripe plum and raw (as opposed to toasted) wood. Nice velvet tones at the end stretch across the finish line.
hmmm.... not great. Very acidic and kind of burns going down.... Drinkable, but I am going to have hearburn tonight for sure :)
scent color are beautiful. Going down the wine is a bit 'burney'....
a deeper tempranillo, wonderful flavors of varying red fruit, hints of red and black pepper, bold characteristics, more complex
Wonderful. Rich tart berry flavors. Loved it.
My Rating 86:long medium complex nose with nice Tempranillo accent. Body dry with no complex taste nothing to get exited about. Would not buy this again
