High tannin - oaky.
Nice wine and not too expensive. Tart berry flavors.
Maybe it wasn't ready to be opened, but the first glass was tough to finish. There was something I couldn't put my finger on but it seemed bitter. Upon 30-45 minutes of resting, glass two went down much better. Smoked meat on the nose. Light-Medium body with tastes of blackberry and vanilla once rested.

Deep ruby red colour. The nose presents jam, dried flowers, tobacco and chocolate; these fragrances come back in the flavour which is elegant and smooth.
This is the first ever 100 percent Garnacha bottling from Rioja house, Campo Viejo. Garnacha or Grenache as it’s known in France’s Rhone Valley is actually one of the designated grapes allowed for production of Rioja red. Grapes for this wine come from Campo Viejo's vineyards in the lower Rioja Baja subregion and Garnacha thrives in these warm, dry conditions. Vines are planted in alluvial soils with clay, limestone and silt. Following harvest, the wine was fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, with a 12-day maceration. The wine then aged four months in new French oak barrels. It shows aromas of red berries, cherry, vanilla and spice. On the palate bright strawberry fruit, raspberry, cherry, dried herbal notes and hints of toast play out with supple tannins.
It is an intense ruby red with aromas of black fruit and vanilla. Velvety and elegant. Food and wine matching: Drink it with red or white meat, roasts and cheese. A blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo grapes. Campo Viejo's Website
