Campo Viejo Reserva 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby-red colour with a golden rim. Bright and deep. Complex aromas. There is a great balance between the fruit (cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries) and the clean nuances coming from the wood (clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut). The nose is further enriched by the aromas that develop during bottle ageing. Smooth and balanced on the palate with a full, elegant feel and a long, lingering finish.

Earth, forest floor and deep rich black fruit on the nose with notes of chocolate and a hint of tobacco leaf. Nicely soft in the mouth, this is perfectly balanced with nice red currant and ripe cherry freshness showing on top of zesty acidity and a creamy texture. Finishes light with lovely spice.

This was a 17 year old wine when I drank it. A bit off balance, but still rather good. Headaches in morning. Not sure if it was the age or the quality.
