We enjoyed this wine with fresh Sockeye salmon and shrimp off our home grill. Be careful not to over chill this wine or you'll miss out on some of the mild floral and fruit flavors.

This wine is a pale yellow color and has a very clean and airy nose. The nose is lightly sweet with the smell of grape leaves. The initial taste is also light and airy with notes of grapes and even more powerful maple wood and sun. The follow through is quick and lightly lingers in the throat. The wine is mildly spicy in the throat, but also resolves quickly. This is a good wine to sip on a sunny weekend afternoon or with a light, but savory dessert.

Wine Tasting NotesThe Campanile Pinot Grigio is a light straw-yellow color in the glass. Light and pleasant floral notes fill the nose and the vibrant palate envelopes the mouth. The excellent harmony of fruit and acid give the wine a full structure with a crisp and lively mouth feel. The wine is light-bodied with a long finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

The fruit for the 2007 Campanile Pinot Grigio was grown in the Grave sub region of the province Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located in the northeastern corner of Italy. Friuli has long been recognized as the producer of the best Italian white wines, and the sub region of Grave is noted for its vibrant Pinot Grigio filled with lively aromas, a light and crisp texture, and intense fruit flavors. The alluvial debris of this region is rich in gravel and sand, thus the local name, Grave. The unique soil characteristic was created from worn down Alpine ridges, and the Tagliamento River, which runs down the center of the region, carrying the debris into the region. The grapes were gently pressed immediately after harvest and vinified in stainless steel tanks for 10-12 days at a controlled temperature of about 64°F. The gentle treatment of the grapes through a soft press retained the bright varietal characters of the Pinot Grigio, and a cool, slow fermentation gave greater fullness and texture to the wine. Before release, the wine was matured for four months in stainless steel. The resulting Campanile 2006 Pinot Grigio is a light straw-yellow color in the glass. Light and pleasant floral notes fill the nose and the vibrant palate envelopes the mouth. The excellent harmony of fruit and acid give the wine a full structure with a crisp and lively mouth feel. The wine is light-bodied with a long finish.
