Cameron Hughes Zinfandel Lodi Lot 170 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes: Lot 170 is a bold, beautiful, voluptuous Zinfandel with aromas of strawberry compote, dark chocolate, and peppercorns. This wine has an intense fruit profile, jammy yet balanced with smooth, velvety tannins. Ready to drink now. Simply enjoy with your best summer BBQ! Cameron Confidential: This wine is the third in a line of fabulous zins by this illustrious winemaker. It is virtually identical to Lot 163, an exclusive wine for one of our retail partners; yet we wanted Lot 163 to be available to our online fans, and thus Lot 170 was born. The winery is a unique operation that prefers making a variety of "component wines" from various vineyards and varietals and then blending upward of 40 different wines per year from those components. There is no tank larger than 8,000 gallons in the winery to facilitate this sort of small-lot winemaking, and the artisan who assembles the final blends is truly a master, making a range of wines from $250-a-bottle Napa cabs to $18-a-bottle California red blends.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
