Winemakers Notes

Notes: Incredible and immediately identifiable nose – this wine is from Spain. The color is intense, vibrant purple, the nose spicy with dark, plummy notes and dusty black pepper. On the palate this wine is rich with blackberry compote, racy cherry fruit, and noticeable black pepper. There is a solid block of tannins backing up this wine but they are well integrated with the long, spicy finish. Editorial Reviews

This offers a rich aromatic array of chocolate licorice and raspberry liquor with a sweet over-arching vanilla/powdered sugar character with tinges of earth and buttery oak. In the mouth this is very fruity with a sweet core of mulberry jam with a thick, velvety mouthfeel. Soft tannins and acid make this classic fruit bomb a spicy, grapey easy drinking bottle. 84pts

For $7 bucks you can beat it for flavor. Campo de Borja, Spain, small AVA with only about 17 vineyards. $7 bucks is a great way to educate your palate with international wines. This grenache, Lot 98, is found at Costco. This is an easy drinking wine. Love licorce nose and spicey finish. Goes with grilled turkey, chicken or pork
