User Reviews for Cameron Hughes Chardonnay Paso Robles Lot 132

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes: Ripe nose of caramel, toasted almonds, ripe bananas and pineapple. On the palate fruit forward richness fills the mouth with flavors of toasty oak, rich cream and caramel balanced by crisp acidity of a Macintosh apple. This is one monster of a chardonnay showing incredible density and packed with big fruit, creamy oak, and fantastic overall structure – as big and rich as it is this wine still has great acidity! Cameron Confidential: I bought some wine from this winery earlier in 2008 and after that deal said "hey, what else you got". Just so happens they were trimming their sales expectations for their flagship $30/bottle chardonnay and had about 3600 gallons of barrel fermented and aged Paso Chard. This wine is full throttle chardonnay with no expense spared. What surprises me is that despite its exceptional richness, this wine still maintains a vibrant underpinning of acidity that lifts and carries the wine. Really fantastic stuff, I wish I had 20,000 cases of it. Unfortunately, all we got was about 1500.
