Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay 2007
Santa Barbara County is a quiet sanctuary of golden hills and well-groomed vineyards located three hours north of the glitter and bustle of Los Angeles. This is the place we call home. For more than 20 years, we have produced estate grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah from our benchland vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley AVA of Santa Barbara County. Welcome to Cambria.
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
We are not usually into Chardonnay because they are usually too woody and lacking in fruit but our friends had us sample this one & we really liked it. :-) Shouldn't we get our Route 66 Trophie now?

The 2000 Chardonnay Katherine's more evolved color suggests consumption over the next 1-2 years is warranted. This is a medium to full-bodied, hedonistic, sexy, delicious, open-knit, tropical fruit-dominated (jammy peaches and apricots) offering.
More tropical fruits as well as crisp acidity, and a light-bodied, floral style characterize the 2001 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard without the weight and richness of its siblings. It, too, should be drunk over the next year.
Big, ripe, rich and well oaked. That pretty much says it all about this show-offy wine, with its bold, tropical fruit flavors, crisp coastal acidity and sleek structure. The tart taste of minerally gunmetal adds complexity.
Wonderful purity of fruit. Ripe, rich and creamy, with layers of fig, citrus, tart pineapple, tangerine and melon, finishing with an elegant touch of toasty oak. Drink now through 2004.
Another excellent value is the 1998 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard. Aged primarily in French oak with a touch of American wood, this barrel-fermented, lush, medium-weight Chardonnay is put through full malolactic fermentation, yet retains strong, vivacious acidity. Notes of tropical fruits, tangerines, and smoke are present in this attractive, California style Chardonnay; it should drink well for 1-2 years.
The 1999 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard is one of the best they have made. The vintage's good acidity buttresses the copious quantities of honeyed orange/pineapple fruit infused with citrus oils and gentle, toasty oak. It is a rich, full-bodied, undeniably attractive Chardonnay fruit bomb that should drink well for 2-3 years.
From the Catherine's Vineyard, this Chardonnay has a beautiful creamy texture and a smooth vanilla flavor with balanced oak and hints of pear. If you've been shying away from Chardonnay or looking for a new favorite, don't hesitate to try this one.
