Cambria Chardonnay Santa Maria Valley Katherine's Vineyard 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This Chardonnay has aromas of fresh pineapple, white peach, pear, and green apple. The same fruit characters are on the palate, accentuated by a bright, balanced acidity and subtle oak spice. The finish is lingering, clean and crisp.

Papaya and fennel seed greet the nose followed by notes of mint, pollen and pears. This has an unusual set of aromas, but they are intriguing. Nicely full in the mouth, yet this has a glassy tautness on the palate. The fruit is subtle, showing some gentle wood influences of spice and vanilla, but it remains rather bright and clear. This finishes with a nice, refreshing wash of apple skins and lime zest, along with some toasty spice notes. Everything is very well balanced, rich but not weighty. 89pts
