Actually, 2.7 stars. Colour, this wine has a decent and a little bit faded colour. Nose, there are some dust and dirt going on (but very mild), pencil shreds coming through, a little bit of wet stone smell, a hint of dry leaves. Midpalate, most of the flavours are faded, the wine is water-thin, I would say the only thing that stands out is again the pencil shreds but lighter that what I get on the nose. Finish, very light, not very vibrant, but balance and considerably lingering, flavours faded away. Overall, there is no way this wine has been scored 97, especially by RP (my favorite wine critic). This wine lacks structure and complexity. I would say it is very one dimensional (pencil shreds only, again!). This wine is very light, really water-thin! Even though I consider myself as an old world fan, I am 87 on this effort. I can not feel or see this wine as a 97 pointer! Happy drinking!
Really enjoyed this wine. It’s a good example of a Saint-Estephe Bordeaux, especially for a second wine. Bold berry flavors and a super smooth finish that’s satisfying.
As my last name is on the bottle, this wine has always held high in my view. I'm biased I know, but in my opinion this is as good as it gets. So perfect in every way. It's got a beautiful nose, just the right amount of tannins, amazing body, and perfect for a meal. Not a cheap bottle, but something to be enjoyed on a special occasion. I love this wine.
Decanted for several hours, and tasted bits along the way. Did not start to show its true character until around hour 6. Truly fantastic wine - heavy, primal nose. Fig and cassis on the palate, balanced by lovely minerals and very firm tannins. Beware, until several hours of decanting, all you will get is tannins. This is one to cellar away and savor over the years.
I was lucky enough to obtain a bottle of this for the princely sum of £2 on www.bidforwine.co.uk and we decided to drink it on Christmas Eve 2010.I have to report that I liked it and would happily buy another bottle even if it was £10 or more.I would describe it as smooth and dry and yet considering that the dominant grape is cabernet sauvignon, and considering that as a second wine it will have been made from the younger vines I was surprised that it was not particularly fruity
A very nice and classic rich dry spicy wine.

2010 Calon Segur: A higher alcohol content (13.8% versus 13.4% in 2009), but lower pH (3.7 versus 3.9 in 2009) has resulted in a concentrated, textured wine that requires a decade of cellaring. It will keep for 35-40 years thereafter. The 2010 harves... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Calon Segur 1500ml
