Caligiore Syrah 2006

Member Review by Katrin:

Sometimes I find inexpensive Argentine wine to be off-putting and harsh, so I pulled the cork with some trepidation. As the dark purple wine filled my glass, the aromas of ripe berries and spice emerged promisingly. The nose was full of ripe fruits, dominated by blueberries, prune-like plums, and spices. The taste was clean, with a sense of mint or eucalyptus and a bit of smoke and meat. Although there is some spiciness to this Syrah, the characteristic pepper that one gets from this varietal is shy. The mouthfeel is light and well-balanced. Overall, an enjoyable wine, which at $12.99, will probably become one of my new “go to” wines for a casual meal. We founded our company with the view of developing a sustainable business with a unique local identity aimed at the international market. Under such view, Social Responsibility understood as the respect and caring not only of the environment, but also the human content of all activities performed by the company, play an important role in all our goals. Local identity is expressed through our work of art, which provides a channel for the region's culture. Thus, wine making is at the core of this artistic expression. Capturing the true essence of our land, Mendoza, the traditional cradle of Argentine wines across generations, we introduce our first line of ecological wines, elaborated and certified under international standards. Wines that have been nursed and nurtured from birth by a qualified and committed working team carefully chosen by the family. Read less
